Cache-sexe
Mafa people, Northern Cameroon/Eastern Nigeria
Fiber string, small glass trade beads, buttons

18" (46 cm) high by 4" (10 cm) wide
Early to mid-20th century

The panel of beads in the center of this cache-sexe is tied around the neck of a plaited string loop, which is festooned with glass beads and plastic buttons. Long strands of string form a backdrop and a belt through the loop would have held the cache-sex at the waist. There is some bead loss scattered throughout. Ex. Cathryn Cootner, Sonoma.
