African Tribal Art - Iron spear currency, Tarumba, D.R. Congo


This large spear-shaped iron currency is from the Kisangani region, between the Lomami and Lualaba Rivers, Democratic Republic of Congo. These were used by the Tarumba and Likele people as bride-price. This one measures 57” tall, has one small broken corner (see below) and a custom base. 19th century.  #3090  $550
