Early to mid-20th century

A sturdy, tightly woven carrying basket from the Khmu people of Vietnam. There are two loops for the shoulder straps on the side ribs of bamboo and a wood base with two slits for the straps, which are no longer with the basket. Baskets of this type are said to have been used for collecting coffee beans.
