Nagaland, India
Early to mid 20th century
3.5" (9 cm) high, 2-5/8" (6.6 cm) wide, 130 grams
This pendant is similar to the type described on pg. 254 of The Nagas by Julien Jacobs, as being made from Indian box lids imported from Manipur. Traditionally worn to indicate a warrior's head-taking status, the holes at the sides of this example have been elongated from years of wear.
