Early to mid 20th century
An architectural Yao woman's hat with dramatic upswept peaked elements, and an orange silk pompom anchoring three rows of black and white glass beads. The silk fringe and beads on the back are all intact, as are the beads around the perimeter. These hats were traditionally festooned with headcloths and more beaded tassels.
