A burnished pitcher with a mythological animal as a handle comes from the Marlik region of the
Gohar valley in Gilan province, Iran. Historical objects unearthed from Gohar Roud (Marlik) in 1961 indicate that the territory was once a center of art which influenced the entire Middle East. This graceful piece measures 12” long by 6.5” high. Circa 12-10th century B.C. From an old North Carolina collection; the buyer will be provided with a certificate of provenance.  #5067  $2000
