A burnished pitcher with a mythological animal as a handle comes from the Marlik region of the Gohar valley in Gilan province, Iran. Historical objects unearthed from Gohar Roud (Marlik) in 1961 indicate that the territory was once a center of art which influenced the entire Middle East.
