Here are three sakiori obi from Japan. Woven from strips of old silk or cotton kimonos with a cotton or bast fiber weft, these beautiful sashes are sold separately and described below. Each set of detail photos below are all taken from the same height, providing a relative view of the fineness of the weaving. Late Meiji Period.

Top right: Purples, blues and cream are spiked with coral in this sash measuring 9" wide by 138" long. There are two small areas of broken weft, and a few barely visible holes.  #9822  $350    SALE: $300

Bottom right: Very finely woven strips in this rainbow of subdued colors. It measures 7.25" wide by 120" long, with two miniscule holes in this otherwise perfect example. #9823  SOLD

Center left: With a wonderful nubby texture, this sash is evenly variegated throughout its 144" length. At 10.5" wide, it is the largest of the three sashes and is in perfect condition.  #9825  SOLD
