A wooden tobacco case
with inlaid eyes from Japan. The form is that of Daruma, also known as
Bodhidharma, and the toggle, ojime, is in button form, inlaid
with bone. Legend has it that after falling asleep one too many times
while meditating, Daruma ripped his eyelids off and never fell asleep
again. The case measures 3.5" high by 2.5" wide and the string is a
