Oceanic Art - Food pounder, Lumi area, Papua New Guinea

A hornbill head tops this food pounder from the Lumi area of the West Sepik. With a beautiful, slightly encrusted patina, it also bears the marks of tiny rodent teeth on the lower back edge, barely visible on the right edge of the base in the photo above. It stands 15" high.
