A graceful
lime gourd from the Massim culture of the islands of Southeast New
Guinea and stands 9.5 inches tall. The very old boar tusk has a gorgeous
honey patina and is set into a woven stopper with six dangling strands
of chama (pacifica) shell disks, banana seeds and iridescent kina
shells, two strands of which are incomplete – please see detail photo
