Cuff
Tunis, Tunisia
Silver
2.78 inches high by 2.5 inches in diameter (7.3 by 6.4 cm), 93 grams
Early 20th century
Ex private collection, Northern CA
One of the finest Tunisian cuffs I've seen, with delicate chased designs, created by the highly respected Jewish silversmith, Mouschi Ennamni. The orientation of the six-pointed star is unusual, the doves (asfur) represent good fortune and blessings. The photographs look green because of the reflection of the background - the high silver content in the bracelet is very apparent in person.
Cf. A World of Bracelets by Anne van Cutsem, pg. 26, lower left, same design.
