African Tribal Art - Beaded cache-sex, Kirdi, Cameroon
A starkly graphic beaded cache-sex from the Kirdi tribe of Northern Cameroon/Eastern Nigeria. The panel of beads is tied around the neck of a plaited string loop festooned with glass beads and plastic buttons, while long strands of string form a backdrop. A belt through the loop would have held the cache-sex at the waist, which measures 18” in length. There is some bead loss and a 1" tear at the bottom. Early to mid-20th century. #5816 SOLD |
