A mask from the Rai people of the Middle Hills, Nepal. These masks are made from tree fungus and are associated with the protection of the home. This one measures 9" in height and comes with a custom base not visible in the photographs. The crown of the head has been doused with some sort of pigment, not as "hot" in intensity as in the photograph. Early to mid 20th century. #1994 SOLD |
