This is an imperial arrow procession chest from Japan. It stands 37”
high and the lid measures 13” square. These were used to carry arrows
and paraphernalia in a royal procession suspended by a stick that would go through
the chest – see photos of the sides below. The gold crest is that of the paulownia tree, an emblem of the Japanese throne. Inside, there is an
old leather carrying case and a leather archery glove - please see
