Adi Shankara was one of the most revered Hindu philosophers and theologians from India who consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta (non dualism). He lived from 788-820 CE. Westerners who know about him perceive him as the “St. Thomas Aquinas of Indian thought" and "the most brilliant personality in the history of Indian thought."
