This amazing carved root figure is from China. It depicts a female acrobat from a traveling circus who might have held two instruments in her hands, since they look not like gestures but like grips of something long gone. She measures 21.5” in height and is carved from two pieces of burl that join at the base with a tongue-in-groove. 19th century.  #8063  SOLD
