A carved coconut cup from Central America with the date 1869 in a band of script around the cut edge that says "Yoi (loi?) del uso del senor Nicolas Gomes Setiembre 20 de 1869". Made by a sailor, a traveler or perhaps a prisoner, this one has a nice patina from handling and age. There is one small crack on the rim which can been seen on the right in the bottom photo.
