The body of this huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in three cotton panels and is decorated with the geometric brocaded designs characteristic of Sacapulas huipiles, representing mountains and stars. The silk applique and hand-embroidered neckline are in the traditional four-lobed design, which is said to represent the four phases of the moon. Note the small bird in the center of the front neckline; this can be a form of signature. Huipiles from Sacapulas are rare.
