This is a wood roof cross-beam finial from an aristocrat’s house or crypt in the form of a mythical dragon-dog (aso). The arms reach under the knee and up again supporting the neck and the eyes are cowrie shells. Bahau-Modang Dayak, East Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia. 13" long. 19th century or earlier, ex Francois Coppens.  #2917  $2800
