This ornate woman’s blouse, called an albong, is from the Bila’an
people, Davao del Sur, Southern Mindanao, Philippines. Made of blue
cotton, it is embellished with hundreds of very small handmade
mother-of-pearl sequins. There is a little fading at the back shoulders
and one missing sequin on the back, visible at 8 o'clock in bottom
photo, loose thread. Otherwise, beautifully intact. It measures 43”
across and 16” high. 19th to early 20th century. #2055
