This is a luminous pearl shell pubic cover from the Kimberly area of Western Australia, worn by the men during certain ceremonies. It measures 6-1/4" high wonderfully graphic incised lines filled with red pigment. On the reverse is a piece of tape with the name P. Lewis handwritten in script. Early 20th century. #1862 SOLD |
