Oceanic Art - Yam mask, Southern Abelam, Papua New Guinea

This tightly woven yam mask is from the Southern Abelam of Papua New Guinea. With great bulging eyes, small pursed lips, a large crown and natural pigments, its presence is hard to capture in one photograph. Please see other views below. It measures 17" high by 10" wide.
