From the series of 74 prints illustrating figures from the Suikoden (The Water Margin), a Japanese adaptation of the 14th century Chinese novel, the Shihu zhuan. This print shows Yōrin attempting to ward off a storm conjured by Kōren, an enemy general. He is dressed in a straw cape and stands amidst swaying grasses and leaves that blown around him, armed with a sword and a barbed and hooked pole-arm. |
